An eye exam gives you a glasses prescription. It doesn't give you a contact lens prescription — those need their own assessment, and they're billed separately.
Glasses sit in front of your eye. Contact lenses sit on it — so fitting them means measuring the curve and diameter of your cornea, checking how a trial lens moves and settles, assessing your tear film, and confirming your vision and comfort in the lens itself.
That's separate work, on separate equipment, and it carries its own fee on top of the exam. It also has to be repeated periodically, because the fit needs rechecking even when your vision hasn't changed.
If you want both, book them together and we'll do the exam and the fitting in the same visit.
The fitting fee depends on the type of lens — a straightforward soft lens is different from a toric, multifocal or specialty fit. We'll tell you the exact cost before we begin.
